The Antioch Retreat, while designed for high school students, requires the entire parish community to help organize, plan and run. This "in-parish" retreat needs 8 Host Homes who will open up one warm room or space in their home to host about 8 retreatants (separated by gender) who will bring sleeping bags, pillows and their own toiletries. Each home must also provide one shower and bathroom for the retreatants to use each morning.
Host Homes also take on the responsibility of transporting the 8 students in their sleep home from Union Catholic High School on Friday and Saturday evening to their home, and then from the their home on Saturday morning back to Union Catholic High School and on Sunday morning from their home to St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish where the retreat will conclude.
Host parents must must be approved by the Pastor and participate in the "Protecting God's Children" certification. Host Home parents need not have a son or daughter on the retreat to participate but they must be registered members of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish. Host Homes who have a son or daughter participating in the retreat must know that their son or daughter will NOT be assigned to their own home.
