We read in Acts 11:26 - "...it was in Antioch that the disciples were first called Christians."
The Antioch Retreat is a 48-hour exciting, fun, prayerful, inspirational, revealing, spiritual and highly charged High School retreat weekend which begins on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm and ends on Sunday evening, March 22, 2009 after the 5:00 pm closing Mass.
This is a parish high school retreat. Any high school student who is either a member of St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish or the Youth Group can attend. However, high school students from other parishes can attend if they are invited by a high school parishioner, Antioch Team Member, member of the Youth Group or St. Bartholomew Youth Minister or priest. While this is a Catholic retreat, non-Catholics and students from other faiths may attend if invited and space is available.
The Antioch Weekend is lead by a Retreat Team of 12 high school students with the guidance of a handful of adult leaders. The weekend is a combination of fun, faith and fellowship. You will make new friends, find out more about yourself and your relationships with family and friends, and hopefully, find a renewed sense of faith in Jesus Christ. The weekend is packed with songs, skits, talks, discussions, games, activities, prayer time, private time, team building, and just plain 'ole hangin out with your friends.
The Antioch Retreat helps high school students learn more about the larger Christian community they are a part of at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Parish. It also helps the candidates come to a better understanding, appreciation and sense of community as individuals and members of a particular community. The Antioch Team is prepared to help every high school student on the weekend to build-up the Kingdom of God through their relationships with God and others by beginning with their self. The weekend is action-packed from start to finish!
Closing Mass: The Antioch Retreat concludes with the closing Mass on Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the regular 5:00 pm Mass. We invite all parents, siblings, family and friends of those on the retreat to attend the closing Mass to show their love and support.
